Crypto Market Hits $2.2 Trillion Amid Tech Struggles

The resurgence in cryptocurrency markets over the past 24 hours has not been stopped by the deepening selloff in semiconductor stocks, the escalating violence in the Middle East, the jump in crude oil prices, or the Fed’s eagerly anticipated interest rate announcement. Crypto markets exhibited resilience amid the chip selloff and the prevailing anxiety surrounding major tech earnings, resulting in an increase of over one percent in the overall cryptocurrency market capitalisation over the past 24 hours. Bitcoin fluctuated within a range of $64,639 to $62,715 during the specified timeframe. Crude oil prices experienced a rebound on Wednesday, influenced by the resurgence of geopolitical tensions amid a new flare-up in the Middle East. The probability of the Federal Reserve declaring a quarter percent rate increase on Wednesday afternoon has risen to 38 percent, up from 31 percent the previous day. Sovereign bond yields have also hardened in tandem, posing a risk of an increase in the opportunity cost associated with holding cryptocurrencies, which are generally non-yielding.
