Crypto markets rise as Fed rate hike bets fade

Sentiment in the cryptocurrency market remains optimistic as the likelihood of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve in October continues to diminish. Anxiety surrounding the forthcoming release of the Federal Open Markets Committee minutes on Wednesday, however, constrained the potential for upward movement. Overall crypto market capitalisation has seen an increase of over one percent overnight, with Bitcoin currently trading around $86,400. Expectations for a rate hike from the Federal Reserve diminished over the past week, following a series of disappointing economic data releases from the U.S. A decline in job openings, softer-than-expected PCE inflation readings, an unexpected decline in ISM manufacturing PMI, additions to non-farm payrolls that were sharply below expectations, as well as an unexpected increase in the unemployment rate, compelled markets to recalibrate their expectations regarding a Fed rate hike in October. Dovish comments from a Fed official indicating that there was no urgency for another rate increase further intensified the adjustment of rate hike expectations.
