August proved to be a tumultuous month for Ripple’s token, despite historical patterns indicating further challenges on the horizon. What developments can we anticipate in September? As we approach the conclusion of August, it is pertinent to examine the significant developments that unfolded during this month, particularly regarding notable price increases. Ripple’s XRP experienced a significant surge, climbing from $1.00 to $1.70 within a matter of days, before encountering a halt in its upward trajectory. History did not anticipate this development, but what implications does it hold for September? Source reported at the start of the month that August was not a particularly optimistic period for XRP.
Following July, which is indeed quite bullish for the token, it commenced August having concluded all four prior editions in the negative. Some of the losses, as observed in 2022 and 2023, were in the double digits. Consequently, expectations for the 2026 edition were notably subdued. Its inception was rather lethargic. XRP continued to experience a decline in value, ultimately falling below $1.00 on several occasions, marking the first instance of such a dip in nearly two years. However, the bulls responded in a noteworthy fashion. Driven by the broader market recovery, the resurgence of ETF inflows, and the reaccumulation by significant investors, XRP experienced a substantial rebound from a crucial psychological threshold, surging by 70% in under 72 hours from August 19 to August 22, reaching a multi-month high of $1.70.
Although it was halted at that point (and the month is not officially concluded yet), XRP has experienced an increase of approximately 33% thus far in August, based on information from CryptoRank. Unless a significant upheaval occurs within the next 36 hours, XRP is set to commence September in a notably more robust state than it did at the outset of August. In contrast to August, the previous four Septembers have consistently shown positive performance for XRP. Admittedly, the one in 2023 brought a modest increase of 0.42%, while the previous year experienced a more substantial rise of 2.5%. However, the years 2018, 2016, and as far back as 2013 exhibited markedly more bullish trends, with respective gains of 73%, 47%, and 94.4%. The year 2022 also demonstrated notable performance, achieving a surge exceeding 46%.
As popular analyst EGRAG CRYPTO recently outlined, Septembers in even years have historically exhibited a significantly more bullish trend for the asset. Furthermore, he noted that during periods when August recorded positive performance, September exhibited a similar trend 66.7% of the time. In contrast, nearly 86% of subsequent Septembers experienced negative performance following such an August. As the August recess in the US Senate draws to a close, attention will shift back to the CLARITY Act in September. Following the unsuccessful attempt to progress the crucial cryptocurrency legislation, the Senate is anticipated to reconsider it as early as September 15. XRP has been significantly impacted by the progress regarding the bill, and a favourable shift could result in an additional upward movement, while an unfavourable outcome could lead to the opposite effect.
