Crypto Slips as Bitcoin ETF Outflows Rise

Recent reports suggesting that the U.S. and Iran were nearing an agreement to resolve the Middle East conflict did not manage to bolster sentiment in cryptocurrency markets early on Tuesday. The decline in crude oil prices, the easing in bond yields, and the greenback’s retreat did not suffice to lift cryptocurrencies into an overnight positive territory. Significant outflows from Bitcoin Spot ETF products on Monday contributed to the downturn in cryptocurrency prices observed on Tuesday morning. Overall crypto market capitalisation has contracted by over half a percent in the last 24 hours, with Bitcoin experiencing a decline of 0.7 percent during the same timeframe. The leading cryptocurrency is currently trading near 64,165. Sentiment continues to be subdued as markets have processed the Bitcoin sales executed by Strategy Inc over the previous week. Both crude oil price benchmarks are currently trading in negative territory, reflecting the ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. Brent Oil has declined by 0.73 percent, whereas WTI Crude Oil has decreased by 0.58 percent. Sovereign bond yields declined across various regions as the decrease in crude oil prices alleviated worries regarding inflation driven by fuel costs.

The six-currency Dollar Index, which measures the U.S. Dollar’s strength against a basket of six currencies, is currently trading on a flat note. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 are exhibiting modest gains, while the Nasdaq Composite has shown a slight increase from its previous level. Anxiety ahead of Wednesday’s key inflation report has also dampened sentiment in the crypto market. Headline annual inflation is projected to increase to 3.5 percent, up from 3.4 percent in June. The core component thereof is observed to rise to 2.6 percent from 2.5 percent in the preceding month. Headline inflation is projected to decrease by 0.4 percent on a month-on-month basis in July. The core component is anticipated to demonstrate stable prices. Liquidation of long positions has exceeded that of short positions. This total includes long positions amounting to $134 million and short positions totalling $59 million. In the wake of significant long liquidations, the total market capitalisation of cryptocurrencies has experienced a decline of 0.57 percent overnight, settling at $2.19 trillion. During this timeframe, Bitcoin, the market leader, fluctuated between $64,830 and $63,752.
