Crypto Market Cap Falls as Bitcoin Pulls Back from $81K

Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, reached a high of $81.2k in the last 24 hours but has since fallen to $78,933. Overall crypto market capitalisation, which reached a peak of $2.71 trillion in the past 24 hours, has subsequently decreased to $2.65 trillion, indicating an overnight decline of 0.32 percent. The CMC Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which tracks sentiment in the cryptocurrency market, has declined to 80 (Extreme Greed) from the annual high of 81 (Extreme Greed) recorded just a day earlier. The index was recorded at 41 (Neutral) one week ago and at 36 (Fear) a month earlier. In the past 24 hours, the liquidation of short positions in the cryptocurrency market has exceeded that of long positions. Liquidation of short positions amounted to $376 million, in contrast to $204 million the day prior. Liquidation of long positions amounted to $225 million, in contrast to $157 million the day before. The total liquidations over the past 24 hours reached $602 million, compared to $361 million the previous day.

Overall crypto market capitalisation has experienced a decrease of 0.32 percent overnight, now standing at $2.65 trillion. The decline in total cryptocurrency market capitalisation was also accompanied by a 16-percent rise in trading volumes. At current prices, Bitcoin holds a dominance of 59.7 percent within the cryptocurrency market. Ethereum accounts for 11.2 percent of the market, while other cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins, make up 29.1 percent of the overall cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, is presently trading 0.02 percent lower on an overnight basis at $78,932.76, which positions it approximately 37.8 percent below the all-time high of $126,198.07 recorded on October 7, 2025. The leading cryptocurrency has seen a 22.9 percent rise over the past week. Bitcoin Spot ETF products in the U.S. saw a significant uptick in net inflows, climbing to $338 million on Monday from $308 million on Friday. iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF recorded net inflows amounting to $209 million.

Bitcoin continues to hold the 12th position in the global ranking of all assets based on market capitalisation data. The leading cryptocurrency occupies a position between Saudi Aramco, which holds the 11th rank, and Meta Platforms, positioned at 13th. Ethereum is currently priced at $2,468.80, reflecting a decline of 1.4 percent. The leading alternate coin has seen a rise of more than 30 percent in value over the past week. Ethereum Spot ETF products in the U.S. saw a reduction in net inflows, decreasing to $116 million on Monday from $184 million on Friday. iShares Ethereum Trust ETF recorded net inflows amounting to $91 million. Ethereum currently ranks 63rd in the global asset hierarchy based on market capitalisation data. The fourth-ranked BNB experienced a decline of 0.87 percent overnight, bringing its price down to $695.49. Fifth-ranked XRP, a cryptocurrency centred on payments, experienced a decline of 2.2 percent overnight and is presently valued at $1.46.

Weekly gains have surpassed 46 percent. The price of 7th ranked Solana experienced an overnight increase of 2.6 percent, reaching $97.68. U.S.-listed Solana Spot ETF products saw a notable rise in net inflows, increasing to $34 million on Monday from $10 million on Friday. TRON, ranked 8th overall, is currently trading 0.48 percent lower at $0.3422. 9th ranked Hyperliquid is trading 1 percent higher on an overnight basis, at $80.66. Hyperliquid Spot ETF products listed in the U.S. saw inflows totalling $6 million on Monday. 10th ranked Zcash is trading 2.8 percent lower on an overnight basis at $818.70.
